The day before, the visitors had won 3 to 2 thanks to a performance inspired by 50 saves by his goalkeeper Philippe Desrosiers. The other goalkeeper of the club affiliated to the Montreal Canadiens, Kevin Poulin, could not imitate his counterpart, he who gave up four times on 34 shots.

At the same time, the Growlers ended an impressive seven-game winning streak for the first-year organization in the Premier AA Hockey League.

However, we cannot blame the Lions for giving up. Delayed 5-1, with less than five minutes remaining in the game, they offered a final offensive push, hitting the target three times within 28 seconds, but to no avail.

The Quebecer Alexis D’aoust initiated this momentum, reducing the gap to three goals while there was 4 min 50 s on the clock. D’aoust returned to the charge 15 seconds later, in addition to adding an assist on his fourth net, a success from Cédric Montminy. The last two goals of this push were also scored on the power play.

Montminy also took advantage of a man’s advantage to put his team on the board in the second period.

For their part, the Growlers rocked the ropes once in each of the first two periods, before doing so three times in the final third, including once in an empty cage. Bobby Lynch took the opportunity to amass three assists, while Zach O’Brien beat Poulin twice.

The Lions and Growlers will have the opportunity to determine a winner in their three-to-one in as many days mini-series on Sunday. This will already be the sixth duel of the season between the two teams.
