Welcome to Mont de Marsan, Landes prefecture

Founded in the Middle Ages around its three rivers on the way to Vézelay on the way to Santiago de Compostela, Mont-de-Marsan was the main fortified town of the Landes. Its history has left vestiges that still decorate the city center today: example with the Lacataye keep, which houses a museum of sculptures.

Another must-see place in Mont de Marsan: the Plumaçon arenas. With a capacity of 7,100 seats, they host events regularly throughout the year.

Among the assets of Mont de Marsan, its confluence: if the Midou and the Douze have their source in the department of Gers, the junction of the 2 rivers is in the heart of the capital of the Landes. The historic center of Mont-de-Marsan is both bounded and protected by these “three rivers”. The town’s former flour mill, now an art gallery, is located at this confluence.
