Weekly photo: Franco-American photographer Peter Turnley followed Ukrainian refugees

Lviv station platform (Ukraine)the starting point of thousands of Ukrainians fleeing the war, or even faces marked forever by war. These images were captured by the Franco-American photographer To fart Turnley. He got on the train with them. “There was not a centimeter free. I stayed up for twelve hours”, he says. He observed broken families, overwhelmed with emotion who took away their whole lives in a few bags.

Among the passengers, the photographer notices many elderly women, alone. “They often had slightly glazed eyes, the look communicated a lot of confusion and despair”he analyzes.
