The holding of Open House Weekends, which will take place this weekend and the next, marks a certain return to normality. This campaign to promote new housing is taking off slowly, putting forward some thirty projects in Montreal and the surrounding area.
“It’s less than what we were used to presenting, but it is a reflection of the market, which was taken by storm from March 2020 to June 2021, and which has experienced a decline over the past three months , since there are far fewer units for sale, ”explains Jacques Beaulieu, who set up the very first Open House Weekends in 1995.
Real estate has changed a lot since then, but more efforts to educate potential buyers and help them make an informed decision are needed than ever, he believes. On the web, the various projects are grouped according to their respective municipality or borough, and are subdivided into six categories: affordable ($ 350,000 and less), for families (three bedrooms and more), affordable luxury (from 250,000 $ to $ 500,000), prestige, option 55+, as well as rental. In the section devoted to affordable new homes, those planning to acquire their first home will also find a list of the various financial aids available.
There is a little less choice than in the past, right now, but there are still some great projects, in all price categories.

The new Les Loges project, ready just in time for the event, is one of them. After they have done their research online, Mr. Beaulieu encourages potential buyers to go to the sales offices, in order to discover the neighborhoods in which the buildings will be located, and also recommends making an appointment, to avoid the crush.
Open house weekends take place on October 23 and 24, then on October 30 and 31, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
