2Frères, Clay and Friends in Tremblant, PlazaPalooza… July is off to a good start with a variety of choices. Here are our journalists’ suggestions.

The group 2Frères will be in concert this Sunday, in Laval, at the Bernard-Landry park. Erik and Sonny Caouette will kick off the 9e edition of the Zones musicales de la ville de Laval. From July 7 to August 25, more than 40 shows by renowned and emerging artists will be presented in eight different locations on the island. This Sunday, the duo behind 33 rpm And We put some light will be preceded by Raphaëlle Roy, singer-songwriter who we were able to follow last winter on the show Zenith. Dumas, Michel Pagliaro, Laurence Jalbert, Florence K and Ludovick Bourgeois are among the other artists who will take to the stage during the summer as part of the event.

The Mediterranean in the spotlight at First Fridays
Mediterranean food lovers are invited to head to the Esplanade du Parc olympique this weekend. From Friday to Sunday, the flavours of this region of the world will be in the spotlight as part of Premiers vendredis. This season, the event, which showcases street food and music, is taking place over three days instead of just one at the beginning of each month. This weekend, festival-goers will be able to hear the pop-rock sound of Julyan and immerse themselves in the groovy and funky atmosphere of Miro.

The Biodegradable Cabaret at the Lion d’Or
This is a tradition that has become a real guilty pleasure over the years: the public reading of the craziest autobiographies available in bookstores. Well, the reading of excerpts. Director Didier Morissonneau is of course counting on some classics (the books of Marie-Chantal Toupin, Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon, France Castel and Andrée Boucher), but he always has surprises in store for us. Among the readers who kindly make fun of our stars (or rather their pens), let’s mention the presence of Mylène Saint-Sauveur, Charles-Alexandre Quesnel, Kim Lavack Paquin and Sébastien Trudel.
July 4, 8 p.m., at the Lion d’Or
