Toronto beats Nashville 2-1
Mitch Marner broke the deadlock with 1:15 remaining in the third period on Wednesday, guiding the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators.
Marner took advantage of Mark Jankowski being in the dungeon following a high stick.
John Tavares had a goal and an assist for the Leafs, who deserved a third straight win.
William Nylander was an accomplice in both nets.
Matt Murray blocked 32 shots. Only Filip Forsberg beat him, in the second minute of the second period.
Juuse Saros made 33 saves for the Predators, who had won four straight games.
Auston Matthews of the Leafs was absent for an unspecified reason. It is a case to be assessed day by day.
Matthews has 20 goals and 47 points this season in 41 games.
The Predators will play at the Bell Center on Thursday.
