A victory for the Senators signed Shane Pinto
Shane Pinto scored 2:05 into overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.
Pinto deflected a pass from Quebec defender Thomas Chabot. It was his second goal in six games this season.
Brady Tkachuk and Mark Kastelic also scored for the Senators, who have won three of the four games between the two teams this season. Joonas Korpisalo blocked 23 pucks.
Daniel Sprong and Dylan Larkin sparkled the red light for the Red Wings, who finished January with a 9-2-2 record. Alex Lyon made 22 saves.
Larkin extended his point streak to 12 games by scoring his 23e net of the season — a high for the Red Wings.
During the last duel between the two teams in December, Larkin lost consciousness on the ice, knocked out by a hit by Mathieu Joseph. On Wednesday, the Quebecer was booed every time he touched the puck.
Both teams were playing their last game before the National Hockey League All-Star break.

The Kings end their losing streak
Alex Turcotte scored his first goal in the National Hockey League and the Los Angeles Kings ended a four-game losing streak by defeating the Nashville Predators 4-2 on Wednesday.
Selected fifth overall in the 2019 draft, Turcotte played a second game this season and a 14e in career. He made it 2-0 in the second and collected an assist on Trevor Lewis’ net with 6:39 remaining in the game.
Carl Grundstrom and Kevin Fiala were the other scorers for the Kings, who have won only three of their last 17 games.
Dave Rittich made 38 saves, bringing his personal record to 5-1-3 this season. He played in 17 games with the Predators during the 2021-22 season.
Trailing by two goals at the start of the third period, the Predators tried to come from behind. Filip Forsberg scored his 24e goal of the season at 5:15 before Lewis brought the lead back to two goals. Philip Tomasino closed the gap again with 3:25 to play.
Juuse Saros blocked 20 pucks in this third consecutive defeat for the Predators.
