Ilya Sorokin shines in Islanders win

Ilya Sorokin made 41 saves and the Islanders won a New York battle with a 3-0 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Sorokin stopped 17 pucks in the first period, en route to an 11e career shutout.

Kyle Palmieri scored twice for the Islanders, ending a three-game losing streak.

Josh Bailey scored at his 999e regular season game in the NHL.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau was involved in two goals; he has four assists this season.

Jaroslav Halak has stopped 26 shots for Rangers, who have lost their last four games.

Halak played four seasons with the Islanders, including a 38-win season (2014-15).

A 200e goal for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in Oilers win

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins broke the deadlock with his 200e career goal on Wednesday helped the Edmonton Oilers win 3-1 over the St. Louis Blues.

Zach Hyman and Jesse Puljujarvi also scored, while Stuart Skinner made 35 saves.

Nugent-Hopkins took advantage of a rebound off a pass shot from Connor McDavid at 13:44 in the third period.

It was the Oilers’ first road game of 2022-23, after six meetings at home.

The Oilers will visit the Blackhawks on Thursday night.

Chicago will be looking for a fifth straight win.

Ryan O’Reilly got his first goal of the season for the Blues, while Jordan Binnington stopped 25 shots.
