Roslovic in a Blue Jackets win

Jack Roslovic scored twice on Wednesday in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators.

This is a third straight win for the Ohio squad.

Eric Robinson and Sean Kuraly, in an empty net, also found the back of the net for the Blue Jackets (31-27-3). Elvis Merzlikins made 30 saves in his 40and game of the season.

Tyler Ennis scored the Senators’ only goal in the loss, while goaltender Anton Forsberg stopped 32 shots.

The Senators (21-34-5) suffered a third straight loss. They have won just one win in the first four games of their five-game home stint.

In addition, the Sens have possibly lost the services of their number one defender, Thomas Chabot. The latter was injured early in the second period after conceding a check from Kuraly. He seemed to feel pain in his right arm. Chabot was examined on the bench before temporarily returning to the ice. He then returned to the locker room and did not return to play.

Trailing 3-1 in the third period, the hosts tried to close the gap but were unable to create any real scoring chances or beat Merzlikins when they got one.

It was the Senators’ defensive struggles that allowed the Jackets to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

With the score at 1-1 after one period, a bad change in the top of the second allowed the Jackets to take the lead. Zack Werenski passed a long pass to Robinson, who advanced to the circles before unleashing a shot that hit the far post before entering the net.

On the Blue Jackets’ third goal, Nikita Zaitsev failed in his coverage of Roslovic in front of the net, allowing him to score on a return shot from Patrik Laine.

Kirill Kaprizov (97) celebrates one of his two goals during the game.

Kirill Kaprizov had two goals as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 on Wednesday.

Kaprizov has six multi-goal games this season, including three in his last seven. He leads his team with 32 goals.
