Brandon Biro propels Sabers to victory

Brandon Biro scored his first two NHL goals on Wednesday, helping the Buffalo Sabers win 5-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Biro completed the double into an empty net, after he scored on a rebound in the first period.

Casey Mittelstadt, Owen Power and Tage Thompson also scored for the Sabres, who have won three of their last four games.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 38 saves, only being thwarted by Joel Farabee and Cam Atkinson.

Carter Hart left midway through the first period with a “mid-body” injury, the Flyers said.

He appeared to be uncomfortable after a scrum that occurred in the eighth minute of the game. He was replaced by Sam Ersson following Biro’s first goal at 10:00.

The two clubs will face each other once again Friday evening in Buffalo.
