Weather | Temperatures well above normal expected this Thursday in Montreal

Temperatures well above seasonal norms are expected this Thursday in southern Quebec.

In Montreal, the mercury is expected to rise to 12°C during the day, 10°C above the seasonal normal.

In Gatineau, maximum temperatures of 13°C are expected, while they should reach 9°C in Quebec.

“We are not expecting record heat,” notes Michèle Fleury, meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The mild spell is expected to persist until Friday before being chased away by a mass of cold air coming from the northwest at the start of next week.

“The temperatures will be colder, but they will be close to seasonal norms,” says Mme Fleury.

In February, heat records were broken two days in a row in southern Quebec. The mercury even reached 15°C in Montreal, breaking a historic record.

Temperatures then plunged by 15 to 20°C in the space of a few hours, depending on the sector.
