Winter-like weather has reigned since Monday night in most areas of Quebec, so accumulations of snow mixed with rain are expected by Tuesday evening.
According to forecasts from Environment Canada, which issued a special weather report, 5 cm to 10 cm of snow are expected Tuesday in southern and central Quebec.
In Montreal, we expect to receive 5 cm, while in Montérégie and in areas north of Montreal, accumulations of about 10 cm or more are expected.
“Visibility will be greatly reduced in heavy snow Tuesday morning during rush hour,” the agency said.
In Estrie, Quebec and Beauce, the snow will melt quickly to give way to rain, especially in the afternoon, with the risk of coastal overflow.
In La Tuque, the wet snow will persist until Wednesday, leaving accumulations of 10 cm on the ground, according to the federal agency.
In the sectors a little further north-east of the province, accumulations of 15 cm are expected, particularly on the North Shore and in Sept-Îles.
On the other hand, the temperatures, even if they are still cold, will be above the freezing point everywhere in Quebec.
