Météo-France is maintaining three departments on orange “heatwave” alert on Saturday, August 3. These are Bouches-du-Rhône, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud. Hérault, Gard and Var were placed on yellow alert in the 10 p.m. bulletin. The orange “flood” alert for Seine-et-Marne has also been lifted.
Temperature-wise, the 40 mark°C was exceeded on Friday in Moulès-et-Baucels, in Hérault, with 40.3°CIt was almost reached in Villevieille, in the Gard, with 39.3°C or in Figari, Corsica, with 39°C. “On Saturday, temperatures will begin to drop near the Mediterranean and in Corsica”with maximum temperatures that could still reach more than 36 degrees in the Var or Corsica. Météo-France anticipates mercury levels generally close to “seasonal norms” Sunday.
