(Montreal) Nearly 31,000 Hydro-Quebec subscribers were without electricity at 4 am Tuesday morning in Quebec due to a succession of various weather conditions that swept through several regions.
The sometimes heavy snow fell on Monday gave way to a release blown by sometimes strong winds.
The regions most affected on Tuesday morning were the Montérégie, with nearly 6,900 households plunged into darkness, and the Laurentians with 6,000. There were just over 3,800 in the Lanaudière region, around 3,300 in Saguenay-Lac-Saint- Jean and nearly 2,600 in the Outaouais.
Environment Canada reported that the winds are expected to continue to cause significant cooling on Tuesday, although their strength will diminish somewhat.
Monday evening, they blew in gusts to sometimes 70 kilometers per hour in Montreal and Quebec; such conditions prevailed overnight in areas further east.
