Weather cocktail in sight this weekend

(Montreal) Environment Canada issued Thursday morning a series of special weather reports announcing a cocktail of precipitation for Saturday in several regions of Quebec, especially those located in the St. Lawrence Valley and to the north.



Meteorologists specify that it is a depression originating in the US state of Colorado that will affect Quebec.

In general, areas north and west of its track will receive significant amounts of snow while it rains elsewhere. An area of ​​freezing rain will also affect several sectors ranging from Abitibi-Témiscamingue to Saguenay during the day on Saturday, before reaching eastern Quebec overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

Environment Canada adds that moderate to strong winds from the west are expected overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

The regions concerned by the special weather reports are those of Montreal and Laval, Lachute, the Laurentians, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, from Val-d’Or and Rouyn-Noranda to Matagami and Chibougamau, Trois-Rivières, Quebec, La Tuque, Saguenay, the Charlevoix region, Baie-Comeau and Fermont.

Meteorologists report Thursday that the trajectory of the depression remains rather uncertain for now. The accuracy of the types and amounts of precipitation forecast will depend on this trajectory.
