The House of Representatives in the United States voted on Saturday April 20 to provide $61 billion in aid to Ukraine. What will it be used for?
US aid of $61 billion to Ukraine was approved on Saturday April 20. 27 billion dollars, more than a third of the envelope, will be dedicated to the purchase of new weapons, ammunition and air defense systems. Almost 10 billion will be paid in economic assistance, in particular for the reconstruction of energy infrastructure destroyed by Russia.
Assistance in the form of a loan
This aid will be paid in the form of a loan, according to the idea supported by Donald Trump: almost a third of the funds will go into the coffers of American arms factories. According to some U.S. officials, the first munitions will be delivered within a few days because the United States has stockpiles in Europe.
In difficulty on the front, the Ukrainian soldiers will find room for maneuver, and certainly part of their morale. “On the other hand, this will not allow Ukraine to reconquer lost territories. For that, many more long-range missiles would be needed”analyzes geopolitologist Nicolas Tenzer.
