These precious moments of relaxation seem essential to them, as for many French people, before attacking the worries of the start of the school year. But this is obviously not to everyone’s taste! As Le Parisien reported in its August 14 edition, many traders, tourists and locals said they did not appreciate the presence of the presidential couple. “When Macron comes to the village, it’s always a mess. It blocks roads and prevents traders from working. At the limit, we would prefer that he did not come”, said the saleswomen of a souvenir shop. Because it is obviously not a couple like the others… when the Macron move, it is a whole heavy security device which is required to follow them. And which suddenly paralyzes the quiet life of Borme-les-Mimosas. Thus, among the nuisances felt by the inhabitants, two “Zodiac-type boats as well as a jet-ski, which patrol day and night around the presidential residence”, specifies Var-Matin on August 9, before adding that ‘there are “gendarme patrols on the beach of Bormes-les-Mimosas closest to the fort” considerably inconveniencing other tourists who have come to bask in the southern sun. For the time being, the Elysée did not wish to respond to this controversy. But an adviser to the president made it clear, in Le Figaro, that Emmanuel Macron has not forgotten his responsibilities as head of state, because “Brégançon is the Elysée-sur-mer” and that “ The president and Elisabeth Borne are in daily and permanent contact”. May the merchants of Borme-les-Mimosas hear him well… Emmanuel Macron is not a tourist like the others!
