“We will win,” promises Volodymyr Zelensky after two years of conflict

“We will vanquish”proclaimed Volodymyr Zelensky, Saturday February 24, two years after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “We have been fighting for this. For 730 days of our lives. And we will win, on the best day of our lives”, launched the Ukrainian president from the Gostomel military airport near kyiv. The leader was accompanied of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the Italian government Giorgia Meloni and the Canadian Prime Ministers Justin Trudeau and Belgian Alexander de Croo, who came to Ukraine on the occasion of the second anniversary of the invasion.

Ukraine enters its third year of war weakened on Saturday. On the front,Russia multiplies its attacks and claims several successes, in particular the capture of the fortress town of Avdiïvka on February 17. Russian soldiers are also gaining ground in the east of the country, in the Mariïnka sector, now described as “hotspot” through kyiv.

Faced with Ukrainian difficulties, the United Kingdom has promised new aid of 287 million euros for Ukraine to stock up on ammunition. Giorgia Meloni is also due to chair a virtual meeting of the G7 in the afternoon in the presence of Volodymyr Zelensky, from the Saint Sophia Cathedral, to discuss new sanctions against Moscow.
