“We will have to weigh in with kindness, but vigilance”summarizes Geoffroy Didier, deputy secretary general of Les Républicains, guest of franceinfo Friday September 20, about the composition of Michel Barnier’s government. Even if he would have preferred a government “more right”Geoffroy Didier does not say “disappointed” of the number of positions granted to LR, which corresponds “to the balance of power in Parliament”.
According to the non-definitive list proposed to the President of the Republic by the Prime Minister on Thursday evening, the future government has 38 ministers, including 16 full-time ministers. In these 16 key positions, seven go to the majority, three to the Republicans, two to the Modem, according to this nominal list which can still be “refined”.
“We will try to work together, it is not easy”says Geoffroy Didier, referring to the need to move forward on the LR side, “with great humility”. “We are betting, all together, on the central bloc against the extremes”adds the Republican, who specifies that he is not “centrist, but [il part] from the principle that[il part] part of the central block”. THE “The big challenge is to make sure that we are not in a ‘at the same time encore'”warns the LR deputy general secretary. And clearly recalls the party’s red line: “We are not increasing taxes for the French, whoever they are. !”
Matignon promises a government to be presented “before Sunday”. “Let’s be patient”says Geoffroy Didier, who points out that it is the president who “appointed on the proposal of the Prime Minister”. “He can have his say, particularly on reserved areas [la Défense, les Affaires étrangères]“.
