We will have to think about compulsory vaccination, believes Minister Duclos

Federal Minister of Health, Jean-Yves Duclos, believes that compulsory vaccination will soon have to be part of the reflection, or even a decision being considered by the provinces.

During a meeting with the press on Friday, the minister said he spoke in a personal capacity. He recalled that the decision was up to the provinces and territories anyway, not the federal government.

Nevertheless, he said, the provinces will soon have to start thinking about it or even making the decision, although we have not yet reached that point, according to him.

To back up his thinking on compulsory vaccination, Minister Duclos cites the extreme fragility of the health networks in the provinces, particularly in Quebec and Ontario, as well as the fact that health workers are exhausted.

Minister Duclos maintains that the only sustainable way out of this COVID-19 pandemic is vaccination.
