“We will have blockades everywhere in France”warned Friday May 3 on franceinfo Gwenn Thomas-Alves, spokesperson for the High School Union (USL), while the union called for “high school mobilization” from Monday May 6 in all establishments in support of the Palestinian population.
USL “is in contact with other local unions which are part of the High School Union component”specifies Gwenn Thomas-Alves, who feels among high school students “a desire to mobilize” because they have “the feeling of remaining idly faced with what is happening”.
“A symbolic action which is the blockade”
The USL spokesperson calls for “convergence between high school students and students”. He specifies that the union “calls for a blockade Monday and Tuesday”but the mobilization “is intended to continue”. The high school union hopes “a snowball effect” with high schools blocked “first day” and there will be “much more” Next.
Faced with the call for firmness from the government which promises to send the police to evict the students, Gwenn Thomas-Alves recognizes that there is “a risk in high schools where there are no cameras, particularly in the suburbs or rural areas, that there will be extremely shocking scenes”. The union will “do everything to be able to supervise” the mobilizations. “We do not legitimize violence. We just want to have a symbolic action which is the blockade”adds the USL spokesperson.
