The French XV was at the centre of serious cases during its tour in Argentina: two players were charged with aggravated rape and another who made racist comments on the social network Instagram.

“We will certainly not have a trembling hand”promised Florian Grill, president of the French Rugby Federation, at a press conference on Tuesday, July 16, while the French XV was at the center of serious affairs during its tour in Argentina. Two of its players, Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou, were indicted for aggravated rape and imprisoned by the Argentine justice system.
Furthermore, Melvyn Jaminet, the Toulon player, was sanctioned after making racist remarks in a video published on Instagram. “There will of course be a before and after Mendoza. We will work on it step by step, in consultation with all the players in rugby, players and staff of the 14 French teams, but also the clubs and the National Rugby League.”assured Florian Grill.
The President of the Federation detailed what the sanctions could be. “We will increase the concrete sanctions. Disciplinary sanctions may include financial sanctions. They may also include temporary or permanent exclusion from the French teams, as we did in the Jaminet case with an immediate suspension as a precautionary measure.”he continued.
