“We were never listened to,” testifies the teenager’s father

The 15-year-old teenager reported being the victim of school bullying at his high school in Poissy (Yvelines).

He speaks for the first time since his son’s suicide. Fred Nebot, Nicolas’s father, spoke to “C à vous” on France 5, Monday September 25, three weeks after the death of the teenager who had reported “acts of harassment” at school.

On September 5, the 15-year-old student was found unresponsive at his home in Poissy (Yvelines). The teenager was hanging from his bed with a bolster case, a police source told franceinfo. His body was discovered around 6 p.m. by his mother. During the 2022-2023 school year, the teenager was enrolled in 3rd prep-vocational school at the Adrienne-Bolland vocational high school, in Poissy. He had reported being the victim of school harassment in this establishment, the police told franceinfo.

His parents were alerted in October 2022, by a call from the head teacher. “He told me that there were three students who were constantly bothering him,” relates Fred Nebot, speaking to “C à vous” “spit”students telling Nicolas: “you are not beautiful, no one likes you…”

During the year, Nicolas’ parents see their son “completely change”. “He made an attempt in February (…) He even said to his mother in July: ‘I want to be buried in Poissy'”confides his father.

“I blame the institution”

Nicolas’s parents, alerted by their son’s condition, alerted the teaching team and then the principal, announcing the filing of a handrail with the Poissy police station. On May 4, the Versailles rectorate responded to them. In a letter he denounces an attitude “unacceptable” from the parents of young Nicolas, who “challenged” the staff of the establishment and recalls the criminal sanctions linked to slanderous denunciations. “A shame”reacted the Minister of Education, Gabriel Attal.

“We don’t understand. Nicolas, when he saw this letter, in his head, he was hurting his parents,” relates Fred Nebot. “S“He’s parents who do everything to defend him, and he realized that it was turning against them.”

“We had become the culprits. We were never listened to.”

to “C to you”

“If sanctions had been taken against these killers from the start, we would not be here”continues Nicolas’ father. I blame the institution. My son, I’m not going to see him again, my life is over.”
