The director of the new weekly “La Tribune Dimanche”, Bruno Jeudy, is Julian Benedetto’s guest in 19/20 info, Sunday October 8. He presents and defends his newspaper, the launch of which was disrupted by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The conflict in Israel disrupted the launch of “La Tribune Dimanche”, Sunday October 8. “Yesterday morning, for the first editorial conference of a closure, I had to make the decision to completely disrupt the beginning of the newspaper, to put the four pages on the surprise war (…) and to set up this event around the war”explains Bruno Jeudy, the director of “La Tribune Dimanche”.
The newspaper will be a general Sunday weekly. What does he promise? “It’s an open and nuanced journal. We want to be a bit of a daily newspaper of nuance in an extremely polarized, extremely radicalized world”, says Bruno Jeudy. He details the summary as follows: a first part focused on current events, and a second on large formats.
An alternative to JDD?
“Often, Sunday readers are very informed people, who are looking for something else, (…) side steps, feedback on stories”, also analyzes the director. Does “La Tribune Dimanche” hope to win back disappointed readers of the JDD? “If JDD readers find themselves in La Tribune Dimanche, we will certainly not refuse them”indicates Bruno Jeudy, before specifying: “If we were content to have a newspaper which is on a crusade against another, I believe that it would not work. So it is also a newspaper which has its own identity, its convictions, its style, and a tone.”
