We suffer from the fear of looking bad

I have been working in the public space for more than twenty years.

Over time, one thing has come to strike me: the weight of fear in many public figures when it comes time to speak out on a “controversial” subject.

This fear distorts minds.

Example: imagine a debate on immigration (yes, I know, I talk about it often, but it is the most important question for our future as a people).

Demonization

How many believe that we are heading towards demographic drowning? They are very numerous. The minorityization of French-speaking Quebecers in Quebec is part of the Canadian logic.

How many will say that? Very little. Because they fear being demonized by associating them with the “extreme right” – that’s the fashionable accusation.

So they keep quiet or even go so far as to say the opposite of what they think, to avoid being spotted by potential opponents, who would pillory them.

Another example is the debate generated by radical trans ideology.

How many seriously believe that it is enough to call oneself “woman” when one is a man or “man” when one is a woman to become one? Very little. But they know that if they say otherwise, they will be accused of transphobia. At worst, they will denounce the excesses of gender theory, without ever challenging its foundations. But overall, they let it go.

But I understand this fear. She is rational.

Infrequentable

Because the sectarian left has the power to transform into infrequents, into monsters, into radioactive figures those who do not repeat the good prayers.

She has the power to make it so that all you have to do is pronounce a name for everyone to suddenly hold their noses or make a face to show their disgust.

It takes a minimum of shell to face such waves of hatred. Not all have it.
