Frédéric Mitterand died this Thursday March 21, 2024 at the age of 76. Known for having been Minister of Culture under President Nicolas Sarkozy from 2009 to 2012, the nephew of François Mitterand had also worked in the world of cinema as a director, producer and animator. “He had been fighting an aggressive cancer for several months” his family explained in a press release announcing his death.
Former President of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy then rushed to offer his condolences by writing a few words on X (formerly Twitter). “He was a deeply cultured and delicate man, a being apart, sensitive and endearing, an unclassifiable personality so far from partisan life”he wrote. “He will leave his films, his books, his broadcasts as so many testimonies of his love for art and culture”continued the former President of the Republic, he declared.
