“We need to transform the way we do politics”

Emmanuel Macron was re-elected President of the Republic this Sunday April 24 with 58.5% of the vote, ahead of Marine Le Pen, 41.5%. This gap is much narrower in the Dordogne where the presidential candidate obtained 51.5% of the vote. “It was a campaign that was difficult in a very particular context” says Philippe Chassaing, guest of the morning show of France Bleu Périgord.

I hope we will be up to the challenge”

The deputy of the Republic in March is elected on the 1st constituency starting from the Valley of the Isle where Marine Le Pen achieves big scores. The chosen one explains on France Bleu Périgord “having looked at the figures carefully and being worried about this rise” of the extreme right. The MP claims to have traveled the territory for 5 years and to have “well given the anger and disagreements, especially on medical desertification, I think we need to provide answers”.

Faced with this anger, Philippe Chassaing, who is a candidate for the nomination and who wishes to renew his mandate as a deputy, believes that the French must be more involved in the decisions “we must be able to propose methods of negotiation, of construction of the law by broadening our base”.

The party commission is due to meet and decide on the candidates in a few days. The legislative elections are scheduled for June 12 and 19.
