“We must always listen to tyrants, because they say what they are going to do”believes Nathalie Loiseau, Renew MEP, invited Thursday December 14 on franceinfo, while an agreement was reached by the European Council opened Thursday on the opening of accession negotiations with Ukraine and granting it new aid of 50 billion euros.

According to her, the question of support for Ukraine “is in our security interests”since “Vladimir Putin will not stop at Ukraine, he wants to remake the Soviet Union and will continue to want to nibble away at the countries he thinks have his influence.”

The MEP insists. “We must always listen to tyrants, because they say what they are going to do”, referring to the speech given by Vladimir Putin on the day of this council. The Russian president recalled his two objectives, unchanged since the start of the war: to drive out the current Ukrainian power, which he describes as “Nazi”and destroy the military capabilities of its neighbor which it sees as “pro-Western”.

She also attacked the position of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is hostile to this aid to Ukraine. Nathalie Loiseau believes that “this famous Europe of Nations that the extreme right in Europe praises, that’s it” and that’“a country close to a dictator can prevent progress”. MP Renew hopes that the rules regarding unanimity of decisions will evolve.
