“We must ask ourselves how to make Barnier succeed”said the former Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer on Franceinfo on Friday, September 6, who believes that “the success (of the new Prime Minister) will be that of France.”
Jean-Michel Blanquer assures us of his current state of mind “is above all to say how we make France succeed?”. The new Prime Minister “has undeniable qualities”says the former minister, adding: “Of course, we can make many comments on his political equation and on the process which led to his appointment to Matignon,” But for Jean-Michel Blanquer, it is the success of France that takes precedence.
For this, the former minister explains that there is “four or five subjects which are fundamental”. These subjects “are well identified” and can “bring together 70 to 80% of the French”. According to him, it is necessary to “balancing public accounts, strengthening the authority of the State on security and immigration issues.” “Thirdly, there is the question of ecological transformation which is an absolute priority”. In addition to these subjects, Jean-Michel Blanquer adds “the question of housing and the question of purchasing power”.
Another key to moving forward: Emmanuel Macron sharing power with his Prime Minister. “It’s in his interest to do so”underlines Jean-Michel Blanquer, for whom “Emmanuel Macron’s power of appointment had to be respected.” Now that this choice is made, “Let us respect Article 20 of the Constitution and therefore the role of the Prime Minister and the fact that the head of government governs.”
