The organizers of the Perche elite tour presented this Monday the outlines of the 10th edition, scheduled for March 5 at the Kindarena in Rouen. The indoor pole vault meeting will welcome 21 athletes, most of the names have been revealed. After a 2021 edition which was held behind closed doors, the organizers are eager to see the public again in the bays of the Rouen hall. Nearly 5,000 spectators are expected.
The meeting is held at an ideal date in the international calendar: 15 days later it is the indoor athletics world championships, in Belgrade, Serbia. The opportunity for athletes to try one last time to reach the qualifying minimums. We will therefore see at the Kindarena regulars of the exercise, in the forefront of which Renaud Lavillenie, Olympic champion in 2012. He will be accompanied by his brother, Valentin, the reigning French champion.
A very high plateau
Also present among the men, a certain Tiago Braz, whom Renaud Lavillenie knows well. The Brazilian, Olympic champion in 2016, had deprived the Auvergnat of a second title by going to break an Olympic record at 6m03. Note, too, the inevitably noticed presence of Kevin Mayer, the star decathlete, who will come to practice one of his 10 usual sports.
Among the women, the headliner is Switzerland’s Angelica Moser, reigning European champion. Do not miss either the local of the stage, Elise Russis, licensed at the Sottevillais stadium and vice-champion of the junior world in title.
The organizers still keep a few secret names. Activities will also be offered at the Kindarena, including an introduction to pole vaulting. All the details can be found on the official website of the competition.
