“Generally speaking, they are all extremely satisfied,” declared Tuesday April 30 on franceinfo Maître Carine Durrieu-Diebolt, lawyer for three plaintiffs against Gérard Depardieu, who will be tried in October in Paris for sexual assault on two women during filming in 2021.

But “They will be relieved when there is a court decision”underlined the lawyer who represents in particular a decorator accusing the actor of having sexually assaulted her on Green Shutters by Jean Becker. “For now, they have the feeling of having been heard,” she added.

After the 75-year-old actor was taken into custody on Monday, “Gérard Depardieu was given a summons to appear before the criminal court”indicated the Paris prosecutor’s office où “he will be tried in October 2024 for sexual assaults likely to have been committed in September 2021 to the detriment of two victims, on the set of the film Green Shutters. “There were confrontations, and it was at the end of this preliminary investigation that the public prosecutor decided that he had sufficient elements to refer him for trial before the criminal court in october”underlined Master Carine Durrieu-Diebolt. “A relatively quick (preliminary) investigation, these are cases which are well substantiated”, commented the lawyer.

Two complaints on the filming of “Volets vertes”

“In this case, it happened on filming locations so we have witnesses”specified the lawyer, who also defends another complainant denouncing acts committed in 2014 on the film The Magician and the Siamese of Jean-Pierre Mocky in 2014, who was also confronted on Monday, but whose facts are prescribed. The production designer on the set of Green shutters filed a complaint in February for sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender-based insults. Maître Carine Durrieu-Diebolt, invited on February 26 on franceinfo, had described comments “shocking” [puis] “gestures which are obscene and which touch the private parts of women”.

From a source close to the matter to franceinfo on Monday, another complaint was filed by another member of the film’s film crew Green Shutters. Gérard Depardieu is therefore also heard in police custody for this complaint. Gérard Depardieu’s trial in October will focus on these two accusations. “I consider that we are witnessing a change in the Depardieu affair because we have more than twenty women and finally, we have the feeling that we believe these women”, added Master Carine Durrieu-Diebolt.

“There are undoubtedly, in my opinion, other women who were victims of Mr. Depardieu and who have not yet either testified or filed a complaint.”

Cyrano’s interpreter has also been indicted since 2020 for rape and sexual assault on actress Charlotte Arnould. “There is this trial which will take place in October and I hope that for Charlotte (Arnould), there will also be a criminal trial. But there, I cannot predict the future”, she concluded.
