“A Ministry of Culture without noise is not a Ministry of Culture!” Newly appointed to the government, Rachida Dati attracted criticism from Jordan Bardella and other representatives of the far right by participating, Monday, February 12, in the “DVM Show”, a show devoted to rap broadcast on the Twitch platform. The president of the National Rally (RN) notably criticizes the tenant of Rue de Valois for legitimizing a program in which rappers would “the permanent promotion of the deal”.

Launched in June 2023 by the streamer Medja, the “DVM Show” has enjoyed growing audience success by attracting many renowned artists, such as Aya Nakamura, Kaaris, Zola and Koba LaD. Surprise guest Monday in the broadcast studio located in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), Rachida Dati expressed her enthusiasm for participating in a program that promotes “a culture that speaks to an entire generation, well beyond the generation of [sa] girl”. Before dancing, all smiles, alongside the singers Dadju and Tayc, the minister suggested to the team to “come and do a DVM” within the premises of the Ministry of Culture.

After the broadcast of the show, Eric Zemmour And Marion Maréchal were ironic about the “rightward turn of the government”. “Rachida Dati must explain her hilarious presence at the ‘DVM show'”for his part demanded Jordan Bardella on the social network. He denounced a program that would “the permanent promotion of the deal, the lair of an anti-Semitic rapper under investigation for advocating terrorism”.

Rachida Dati rejects “the controversies of the extreme right”

The president of the RN particularly refers to the rapper Freeze Corleone, who notably came to perform on the “DVM Show” last July, but who was not present alongside Rachida Dati on Monday evening. The Nice prosecutor’s office opened a preliminary investigation last week for advocating terrorism against this rapper, after an implicit reference to the 2016 Nice attack in one of his songs. A prominent figure in French rap, the artist Freeze Corleone had already been the subject of an investigation in 2020 for “provocation of racial hatred”, but the latter was ultimately dismissed.

For her part, the minister refuses “to enter into the game of controversy with the extreme right”explains his entourage to franceinfo, and prefers to concentrate on the basic message. “A Ministry of Culture from which creators feel excluded would not be a Ministry of Culture, explained the minister on X. This is also the meaning of my presence among this generous and popular youth.”
