“We don’t lock up the birds”, Barbara Pravi’s vibrant debut album

She represented France at Eurovision 2021. Singer-songwriter, she wrote for a long time for others including Yannick Noah, Julie Zenatti, Chimène Badi, Jaden Smith and also signs the titles of Carla (Bim Bam Toi) and Valentina (J’imagine), but this time it’s herself that it highlights.

We have Barbara Pravi’s debut album, which she titled “We don’t lock up the birds“, released on August 27. Proof that this artist, who has been robbing the attentions of the music scene for a few months, has indeed taken off. We must listen with serious lightness to what free symbols have to tell us. Understand that the bird, it’s her, it’s him, it’s us. That he has the plumage of love not yet blunt, the flamboyance of the sublimated beloved, the seriousness of youth when it flies far and high before panicking, before sagging.

In eleven tracks, Barbara hums us its own developments and its balance sheet of the company. Without a war of the sexes, and with a good dose of gentle optimism.

The album opens on “Here is“, the vibrant and violent evidence of talent. Cri du cœur, this piano-voice-cello waltz, which has become theFrench-speaking anthem of Eurovision 2021, is an exposure, but also a plea to keep the public enthusiastic.
