“We don’t want to abandon the victims”reassures Wednesday December 13 on franceinfo, Sébastien Boueilh, the new co-president of Ciivise, the Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence Against Children. “It would be very unwelcome of me, having been a victim of rape myself during my childhood”, he continues. With the new co-president of the Ciivise, Caroline Rey-Salmon, “we will try to set up a national network, with associations which can provide free support on psychological and legal aspects, something which has not been done today”.

For Sébastien Boueilh, also founder and general director of the Colosse aux pieds d’église association“we must be satisfied that it (the Civic) is maintained”. From now on, the Commission “will move into an operational phase”, “through training” and go “put the child back in the middle of the debates”. Previously, “the mission was to listen to adults today, victims yesterday, when they were minors. We are talking about victims before the year 2000”, explains the co-president. NOW, “We want to listen to today’s minor victims, who have spoken, to identify what made it possible to free their speech, the obstacles they encountered, to refine prevention.”

“I’m not taking the place” by Edouard Durand

Of the 82 recommendations made during the Ciivise assessment, “the government took it over”assures Sébastien Boueilh. “More than half will be implemented, 20 are under study because some have to change a lot of lines through decrees”. “We will be vigilant to ensure that these recommendations are consolidated and implemented,” he explains before adding that“we are not closing the page of the Ciivise, on the contrary, we are strengthening it with new missions”.

The new co-president also reacted to this change of pair and in particular the replacement of judge Edouard Durand. “It was his baby,” he mentions when speaking of Civility for the judge. “It’s unfortunate that it’s taking this turn.”he slips, admitting to understanding this situation in relation to “the investment he (Edouard Durand) had in Ciivise”. Sébastien Boueilh plans to call him to discuss: “It’s not my decision, I’m not taking his place”he says.
