“We didn’t invite anyone and we informed everyone”underlined Gérard Larcher, president of the Senate and senator LR des Yvelines, Wednesday November 15 on France Inter, in response to criticism of the presence of the National Rally at the march against anti-Semitism last Sunday.
Gérard Larcher “recalls that the National Rally has a group in the National Assembly, that week after week, it sits” before adding: “But you will never see me parade arm in arm neither with Madame Le Pen nor with Monsieur Mélenchon.”
Senator LR refuses to “comment” the declaration of the LR deputy for Lot, Aurélien Pradié Tuesday on franceinfo. The latter explained how “a very clear difference between Islamism and Islam”. He added : “And I know that what leads the National Rally to mobilize against anti-Semitism is the undifferentiated hatred of Muslims, nothing else”. With Yaël Braun-Pivet, “Last week we refrained from any comments on the controversies, I am not going to go any further.”
But Gérard Larcher assures that “anti-Semitic acts, like anti-Christian acts, like anti-Muslim acts are intolerable in the Republic and we condemn them all”. He is pleased to have initiated the march against anti-Semitism last Sunday, with the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet. “The start” faced with the rise in anti-Semitic acts “existed”, rejoices the senator. “There were more than 100,000 of us in the streets of Paris. 185,000 throughout France. This march must be a signal.”
