Terrible news for the many fans of the singer I’m still dreaming of it. This Tuesday, October 10, 2023, Gérald de Palmas addressed his subscribers via a video posted on his social networks to let it be known that he was preparing to retire.
In front of the camera, the 55-year-old singer confided that his eighth studio album, which will be released in exactly one month, was going to be the very last of his career: “My new album, ‘Under a Lead Sun’, will be released on Friday November 10th. I put all my energy and all my heart into it, but it will be the last of my career.”
A real shock for his many fans whom the musician did not wish to leave incomprehension. Thus, the musicians continued by explaining the reason why he had decided to retire permanently: “A recurring voice problem leaves me in constant uncertainty, and I never know from one day to the next what the state of my voice will be. It’s manageable for recording because I can choose the moment when I’m at my best, but not to go on tour or promote. Faced with this dilemma, I prefer to stop”.

“Intermittently single”
Having lived in Reunion Island for seven years, Gérald de Palmas is preparing to retire and probably spent more time with his family. As a reminder, Gérald de Palmas is the father of Victor born in 1996 and Rose born in 2003. Two children born from his union with his ex-wife Gwen with whom he remained married for 16 years before divorcing in 2010.
“I stayed married for sixteen years, I didn’t have to compromise because we got along like crazy. Until it shits”, he confided to Paris Match in 2016.
Asked at the time the reason for his divorce, and in particular if his fame had had an impact on his relationship, the singer indicated that it was not linked to his separation from the mother of his two children: “We did everything to save our relationship and our family. But no matter how hard we tried, we didn’t succeed. This divorce is the most difficult thing I’ve ever experienced, and it’s my only regret . Today, I’m single on and off. If that doesn’t work, I move on, because I’m still looking for some form of absolute love.”he explained.
