Until March 25, it is the week of education and action against racism and anti-Semitism. This is the subject of Talk franceinfo. Every evening, from 6 p.m., Manon Mella and her guests debate with Internet users on the franceinfo Twitch channel.
March 20-26, 2023 is Anti-Racism Education Week. Indeed, if the French say they are more tolerant, acts of racist and anti-Semitic hatred are on the rise. This is what the latest report of the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights on racism reminds us. According to Patrick Lozès, the president of Cran, 9 out of 10 black people in France say they are victims of racial discrimination on a daily basis. So how to fight against racist and anti-Semitic discrimination in France?
We discuss it with Samora Curier (aka Mwakast), streamer and Romain Montbeyre Soussand, activist of the association SOS Racisme. A few hours after the interview with Emmanuel Macron, Manon Mella also receives at the start of the program Rachel Garrat-Valcarcelpolitical journalist for 20 minutes to discuss the President’s announcements.
Prove discrimination to fight it
On March 3, 2023, SOS Racisme organized a “testing night” at the entrance to night establishments in order to highlight racial discrimination. The association mobilized testers in 10 towns in France.
Nationally, 17.3% of establishments tested practiced racial discrimination. Complaints were then filed by the association. Is this kind of device effective in alerting public authorities?
Join us from 6 p.m. Monday to Friday on the franceinfo Twitch channel to participate in Manon Mella’s Talk. An hour of exchange, clarification, and debate around topical and social issues.
