“We cannot wake up from such a nightmare. We took life imprisonment”, testifies his father

“I need to talk to her and show her my love. Otherwise, I’m going to sink.”, testified Saturday, October 30 on franceinfo Isabelle Fouillot mother of Alexia Daval. Four years after the death of their daughter, killed by her companion, Jonathann, the parents of Alexia Daval publish a book Alexia our daughter at Robert Laffont. “We cannot wake up from such a nightmare. We took life imprisonment”, said Jean-Pierre Fouillot, Alexia’s father.

franceinfo: Why did you write this book?

Isabelle Fouillot: In priority, this book is to pay homage to Alexia. It was released on October 28. It’s the anniversary of Alexia’s death, October 28. It’s a very disastrous birthday and what we are looking for is to pay tribute to him and understand what happened to him, what happened to us. This book is also to pass on to our grandchildren.

In this book you talk about the nightmare you are living. Can we get out of such a nightmare?

Jean-Pierre Fouillot: We cannot wake up from such a nightmare. We fall asleep with the nightmare and we wake up with the nightmare. And that’s every day. We took life imprisonment.

Did the Jonathann Daval trial help you understand the reason for your daughter’s disappearance?

Of course we are looking for the why, but I think we have the why. It’s just that Alexia had seen the character he was. She says it in text messages. “You don’t give me love” and honestly, i think she was fed up with him and wanted to go away.

Is that the reason for your daughter’s death?

Isabelle Fouillot: Absolutely.

Jean-Pierre Fouillot: We can only suppose so, but we are convinced of it.

In your book, you denounce the betrayal of your son-in-law. Can you live with that idea?

Isabelle Fouillot: It was a posteriori that we managed to dissect what happened to Alexia. How he got him under control. And we too during the three months, he put us well under control. He was sowing stones in our heads to really pass himself off as innocent and to make himself loved by us and to be our son. He called me mom anyway during the three months. If it’s not perversion.

Jean-Pierre Fouillot: What we wonder about this betrayal is since when it started, from when before the murder? Did it go back a few months, a few years? And taking all these things apart, we can assume that the betrayal begins very, very early.

Jonathann Daval said he was the victim of a violent woman. What do you think of his defense?

Isabelle Fouillot: He said so in the early hours of police custody. I learned live that it was my son-in-law the culprit, and at the same time that Alexia had an overwhelming personality, that the victim was not who we thought and that she deserved what she had suffered. . I thought to myself, he is remaking history. He killed my daughter a second time. This gentleman is indecent. He’s been insulting our grief for four years, so it’s too much to bear.

Jonathann Daval’s lawyer, Me Randall Schwerdorffer, repeats the same thing in a book published 15 days ago …

Isabelle Fouillot: It does not interest us.

Jean-Pierre Fouillot: This book, we will never read it. What is in there, maybe it will be reported to us, but we don’t care. It is giving publicity to this gentleman. We especially do not want to give it to him.

How not to have perceived the split personality of Jonathann Daval during all the years?

Jean-Pierre Fouillot: But when you imagine that all is well, when all is well, when love is there, when you see your children happy, you do not ask yourself questions. We are immersed in work, we know that everything is going well. Why ask yourself questions that do not have to be? It is true that with hindsight, we blame ourselves for not having seen anything. There was never a moment when we doubted their relationship. Never !

You asked Jonathann Daval to write to you. Why ?

Isabelle Fouillot: I asked him to write to me to tell me the truth. And I did not receive anything. And over time, I realize that I couldn’t take his word for it once. He’s a pathological liar and his word can’t be believed.

What happened to your daughter can be used in the fight against feminicides?

Isabelle Fouillot: Completely ! I think we should even pay tribute to all these women who disappeared under the blows of their husbands. Feminicides have not decreased since 2007. We are still at the same point. In any case, pay homage to these women. No woman deserves to die at the hands of their husbands. You have to shout it out loud and clear.

Writing this book made you feel good?

Isabelle Fouillot: Yeah, I think it’s a form of therapy. I need to talk to her and show her my love. The whole family around us, we all need to talk about Alexia to make her exist. Otherwise, I’ll sink.

Jean-Pierre Fouillot: Alexia was the victim of her murder, but she is no longer here to talk about it. The book that is made with producer Thomas Chagnaud is there to talk about Alexia, to talk about Alexia’s truths.
