“We cannot continue to train in a one-star campsite”

Hardly the maintenance in Top 14 unhooked, coach Patrick Arlettaz gave a rant and calls on the communities to help the USAP otherwise it is the descent to PRO D2 guaranteed if nothing is done!

The Catalan club ensured its maintenance for next season by winning 41 to 16 on the ground of Mont-de-Marsan. After two sold-out matches at Aimé-Giral and then having moved more than 3,000 supporters to the Landes, USAP has shown that it still mobilizes people when it wins.

Hot at the end of the match, the USAP coach gave an update on the USAP situation. If the sportsman has held firm for a few years, the future of the club is uncertain if nothing moves as soon as possible in terms of infrastructure.

“It’s a message for our institutions: We need help!”

“I really want it to be a message, tonight, there are two or three lessons to be learned from this season. It will be even harder next season because we will have to confirm. Now that we have experienced this access final , you have to do everything to never experience it again and when I say that, of course, I’m not talking about finishing 14th.

And then, it is a message for our institutions. We all know our budget, we’re all in. We don’t have much leeway. As far as the players are concerned, in terms of evening donations, investment and love for the club, we cannot do much more.

When you see the stadium against Bordeaux, you can’t do much more. On the other hand, we cannot continue to train in a one-star campsite, to have a locker room that dates from 1998, to have the hopes that are in a training center that is almost classified as unsanitary, that is not going not be able to continue! We need help.

The players shouldn’t do everything, the public should do everything, the president should do what he can with his means and we should go back down to PRO D2 because we weren’t helped. I’m talking about facilities, I’m not talking about buying stars or doubling the budget, I do not dream. On the other hand, there is a minimum, we must help ourselves.

“We have to tell the players to watch where they step!”

I haven’t said anything until now because it’s the sportsman who has to pass in front, those who have to pass in front are the supporters then it’s the president. But when everyone walks past but on Monday we still have to tell the players to be careful where they step or they’ll sink into the floor. That’s enough, it’s okay now. At some point, we have to help ourselves and in addition I think we deserve it.

We bear to be the poor in terms of budget but to be the poor in everything when we have this fabulous public, this fabulous group and this fabulous club, that’s enough! It will end up costing us, that’s for sure and certain, we won’t always be able to pull the rope as we have been doing for 5 or 6 years.”
