“We cannot accept, I will fight with all my strength”, declares Minister Nicole Belloubet

“It’s annihilation and we cannot accept that”Minister of National Education Nicole Belloubet said on Sunday April 7 on France Inter in the program Questions Politiques, after the attacks that occurred in recent weeks near schools between middle school students. “We cannot accept this. And with all my strength, I will fight against this in my field. With all my strength, I will devote myself to it.”

After the death on Friday of a beaten schoolboy, the day before leaving her school in Viry-Châtillon (Essonne), Nicole Belloubet first wished “stand alongside teachers in the educational community”. She testifies to having “measured on the spot the cries, the tears, and the staff and the class to which we learned of Shamseddine’s death”the young college student.

Exceptional service collaboration

Regarding the circumstances of the attack, the Minister of Education specifies that she “wishes to let the investigation take place”, not being “at the heart of the investigation”even if she has “the impression” that the act was premeditated. Nicole Belloubet would like to point out that “in all these phenomena”, the Ministry of National Education has “an absolutely exceptional collaboration with the police services and with the judicial authority, each in their role.”

Nicole Belloubet judges that there is currently “various facts” which seem to him “more violent than they could have been before.” “I have the feeling of violence increasing in intensity. I also have the certainty that the facts coming to us from schools, that the reports are more numerous than they were before.” According to the minister, it is “because we demand the end of the ‘no wave’. It is because we demand that all of these facts be brought to our attention to know them better and to better anticipate them and to better sanction them.”

Nicole Belloubet adds that she is not “not sure” that the fatal attack was connected to the school. “I’m not sure. If a link were to be established, we would take the necessary measures. And on this, I am clear and firm: my hand will not shake.”
