The finding is much more alarming than that of the Ministry of Education: an IFOP study, revealed this Tuesday, October 7, indicates that one young person in five says they are a victim of harassment, compared to one student in ten according to government figures. . The study was financed by “Head and Shoulders” and carried out online in mid-September on a sample of 2,000 people: 1,000 young secondary school students, 1,000 parents and 200 teachers.

19% of young people surveyed say they have been victims of harassment. That is to say, in the terms of the study, that they were victims of at least one form of physical, verbal or psychological violence every day or several times a week. For 16% of them, it lasted more than a month. In 81% of cases, these violent situations involve a group of students. Result of “the pack effect” according to Nora Fraisse, founder of the association “Marion la main tende”: “We are very far from the figures that we have been told for many years. We noticed this by going to schools, specifies the manager. We said to ourselves ‘this is not possible’: in a class of 30 students, we have more than 3 children who talk to us about these subjects.”

Something else “very important”underlines Nora Fraisse: “Only 5% of teachers indicate that they are in the pHARe program. This means that when we are told that 60 to 86% of establishments in France are in the program, they are in fact registered but you cannot have only 5% of teachers [concernés]. We really have a gap between what we are told and reality.”
