The 27 member states of the European Union (EU) have decided to start negotiations for Ukraine’s membership. An agreement was reached on Thursday, December 14, while Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban resisted. The MP recalls that“we have no interest in letting a state drift into the hands of Russia”before insisting on the fact that “we are stronger united”.
“We need to rearm Ukraine”
Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade nevertheless warns of the long process of integrating a country into the EU, and of the fact that Ukraine will not be part of the EU for months or even years. In parallel with the discussions on Ukraine’s accession, the MP declared that“We need to rearm Ukraine”. He calls on European countries and the United States to deliver more weapons “in the coming weeks”.
