“We are still calling Lucie Castets to Matignon, otherwise Macron will be impeached”supports Mathilde Panot, president of the La France insoumise group in the National Assembly and deputy of Val-de-Marne, on franceinfo Friday August 30. This statement comes after Emmanuel Macron’s refusal this week to appoint the candidate of the New Popular Front as Prime Minister. LFI which is still brandishing the threat of triggering impeachment proceedings against the President of the Republic who, according to her, “does not respect the result of the ballot boxes”.

“The Resolution” of impeachment is “ready” assures the elected official. The impeachment procedure provided for in Article 68 of the Constitution must be filed by one tenth of the deputies, or 58 deputies. “We have this number of deputies in our midst”assures Mathilde Panot, then it must be voted on by two thirds of the Assembly. “Normally, we can succeed in removing the person who is causing problems in this country, that is to say Emmanuel Macron”she says.

Mathilde Panot assures that her group will submit motions of censure “against any government that is not led by Lucie Castets”including if it is the former socialist Bernard Cazeneuve. The name of the former Prime Minister of François Hollande remains only a hypothesis. For LFI, “It’s Lucie Castets or nothing” And “the four NFP organizations are all behind Lucie Castets”insists the elected official.

The president of the LFI group in the Assembly also announced on Thursday that she would refer the matter to the Constitutional Council, because ministers who have resigned are also serving as MPs.
