Hundreds of Common Front strikers demonstrated in front of the Northvolt offices in McMasterville to denounce the lack of funding in the public sector.

“For us, Northvolt perfectly symbolizes the fact that we are led by a government of capitalist businessmen who prefer to give money to companies like that rather than giving it to women and men who are in the public health and education network,” explains the 2nd vice-president of the CSN, David Bergeron-Cyr, in an interview with LCN.
If the negotiations seemed to be moving at a snail’s pace at the sectoral tables, it seems that the situation has improved according to the representative, “but it is still insufficient.”

He maintains that the government wants to see its workers return to work before Christmas, it will be necessary to enter into a blitz of negotiations.
“We are ready to go all the way. Until we obtain a contract that makes common sense for all workers in Quebec. This is not just a workers’ negotiation. It’s a fight for the entire population of Quebec!” proclaims Mr. Bergeron-Cyr.
“We are ready to go as far as an unlimited general strike in January if the government doesn’t want to know anything!”, he concludes.
The federal and provincial governments have injected approximately $7 billion into the Northvolt McMasterville plant project.
