“Companies are largely ready to collaborate”, reacted Wednesday August 10 on franceinfo Cécile Despons, president of the Confederation of small and medium-sized enterprises (CPME) of Gironde, after the declarations of Gérald Darmanin. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has called on companies to release the volunteer firefighters they employ from their duties, to strengthen the system for fighting exceptional summer fires.
I appeal to companies and public employers to allow their employees who are volunteer firefighters to join their barracks as soon as possible. Our country needs them in the face of exceptionally serious fires. pic.twitter.com/h11ZOPcjgm

“We are all affected, both economically and humanely, so we understand this call”explained Cécile Despons, while qualifying: “On the other hand, we cannot do it only with good will”. According to her, the legal framework remains to be defined in particular: “We are governed by the law, so things have to be put in working order”. The president of the CPME de Gironde claims to have already made her members aware: “We have started to discuss with companies in Gironde”.
