As the seasons go by, Jean Désy goes to air his body and mind in the heart of nature with friends. Poets, artists, travel enthusiasts, health professionals. From the talks he had with them, he drew a book, We are poetryon the importance of poetry in our lives.

When Jean Désy, doctor and writer, talks about poetry, it’s not just about poetry on paper. It also concerns those states of “poeticity” that everyone can feel and that soften everyday life. Poetry as a look at things, as an artistic expression.
The book is a call to sensitivity, to the action of the spirit, to an optimism built around the appreciation of life in all its dimensions. A look at life that the author considers fundamental in these uncertain times when, mired in the health crisis, we tend to forget that life on Earth is in danger. This enlightened and illuminating look, nature awakens it, according to the writer Anne-Marie Desmeules.
“The state of the world would probably not be the same if more people refused to live according to the different modes of domination that they encounter and undergo every day, if they chose to integrate more with nature, says- she. We must give more importance to beauty. »
“Poetry is slowness and respect in a society that trivializes verbal violence,” says poet Geneviève Boudreau.
“Poetry is letting the whole universe enter into us and then putting it back into verse, also says the author Normand Genois. It’s going to the essential. “It’s a key, adds the poet David Goudreault:” Once you have it in your life, there is no real waste of time. »
Isabelle Duval believes, like Marie Uguay, that poetry gives access to the quest for this “beyond life” that we reach “when we feel all the density that there can be in life”. “Through poetry, we become more aware of who we are, what moves us, what makes us love life, what makes us alive,” she says. Poetry gives a surplus of life, a more-than-life. »
Even in the family routine, we can free ourselves from times of poetry. “Children bring us back to this reality that poetry is everywhere, in almost everything,” says filmmaker Mélanie Carrier. Sometimes you just have to stop to see all the beauty in the world…”
