“We pick the pockets of small businesses so as not to offend the big ones,” denounces Thursday October 10 on franceinfo the president of the Union of Local Businesses, Michel Picon, a few hours before the presentation of the 2025 budget to the Council of Ministers. For several days, the profession has been worried about a possible reduction in aid for hiring apprentices, which currently amounts to 6,000 euros for companies.

“Unfortunately, I had confirmation of this”even suggests Michel Picon. He assures that the proposal will be presented Thursday evening in the Council of Ministers. “The decision that was made was to pick the pockets of small businesses, by taking away the 1,500 euros they need,” he insists.

“We are going to petition Parliament so that another arbitration can be rendered”announces the president of the Union of Companies. The risk, according to Michel Picon, is that the number of apprenticeship contracts signed in craft businesses and particularly in the countryside will decrease.

According to him, savings efforts must be targeted at large companies. “It is the large groups that have absorbed the enormous credits for apprenticeships, is there a need to give 6,000 euros to large groups so that they can train apprentices?” asks Michel Picon. “It was a waste,” he denounces, to extend apprenticeship aid to large companies when the cost of apprenticeship reached 22 billion euros in 2022.
