77 years after the events, Raymond Mis and Gabriel Thiennot will benefit, posthumously, from a review trial, which satisfies Thierry Thiennot. Gabriel Thiennot’s son tells Friday October 6 on France Inter “the surprise” that he felt the day before, when the investigating committee decided to refer to the Court of Revision the case of these two men, convicted for the murder of a game guard in 1946 and pardoned in 1954 by President René Coty. These two men, who have since died, have continued to proclaim their innocence, denouncing the abuse they suffered during their custody. For their support committee, and their loved ones, it is “a very long-term fight”.
Thierry Thiennot intends to continue fighting “for the honor of [son] father who unfortunately is no longer here” but also “to honor French justice”. Thierry Thiennot also plans to pay his respects at his father’s grave for him “to say that we may be at the end” of the affair, that he “There’s only one step to take.” He welcomes the decision of the investigating committee, affirming that “the magistrates respected the law”the one voted in 2021, which allows confessions obtained under torture to be annulled.
From now on, the Court of Review must meet, on a date which remains to be specified. “The issue now will be a new trial”, indicates Thierry Thiennot. According to him, there remains in this file “only two testimonies against”those from “Désiré Brunet and Albert Nisseron”. This last “is no longer in this world, he has recanted several times, and experts have determined that he is of mental age [d’un enfant] 9 and a half years old”denounces Thierry Thiennot.
