“We are on budget and on time,” says Anne Hidalgo

Almost a year before the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, which are due to begin on July 26, 2024, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo promises on Tuesday June 6 on France Inter that the City “is ready”. “We are on budget and we are on time”, supports the aedile. The socialist mayor of Paris salutes in particular “work” and the “smart job” which was done in collaboration with the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin. “I don’t agree with him on many subjects, but on the Games I salute his great responsibility and his ability to listen”she adds.

Anne Hidalgo takes this said to respond to the criticisms made by the LR mayor of the 7th arrondissement Rachida Dati. The elected representative on the right ensured at the end of April in Le Figaro that, on the contrary, Paris is not ready. By making such remarks, Rachida Dati “does his show”, annoys Anne Hidalgo. She believes that this “show [est] inspired by Trumpism, that is to say by something that comes to demolish public debate, democracy”. Anne Hidalgo more broadly criticizes the attitude of Rachida Dati during the various Councils of Paris: “We spent three years in office being insulted, interrupted […]I don’t call that opposition, or else it’s opposition that doesn’t work on a counter-project.”

The mayor of Paris also returns to the controversy surrounding the price of tickets for the 2024 Games, which is considered excessive. If she recognizes that he “there are very expensive tickets”she considers that it is necessary “accept that there is an economic model”. Anne Hidalgo also recalls that “50% of the tickets that are sold [le sont] less than 50 euro”. She announces that for the opening ceremony “there will be 100,000 paid tickets” but also “several hundred thousand free tickets”. “The State will set up this free ticket office”she says.
