“In all likelihood we are reaching the peak”, warns Olivier Véran, Saturday 11 December, in an interview with Parisian. The Minister of Health recalls that this fifth epidemic wave is violent: “We exceeded 70,000 diagnoses in 24 hours at the start of the week, unheard of since the start of the pandemic in our country.”

“For ten days, we have seen the beginning of a slowing down of the epidemic wave”, adds the Minister. We must now wait to know if the contaminations will drop quickly or if the plateau will remain high. “We are not heading towards containment. But to say that it will never happen again is impossible”, warned Olivier Véran.

“Further restrictions are not on the agenda, but let’s remain cautious and keep pushing forward.”
